Ok like every other day it seems I find a Turbo snail flipped over on it's back. I flip'em back over and most of the time they're fine but occasionaly they never move again. From my reading I've gathered that it's not uncommon for them to fall off the glass and land on their backs and in that situation they cannot right themselves and it also causes internal problems if they don't get righted soon. Is this really a common thing? From what I had gatehered about them was they were one of the best snails to keep the glass nice and clean but I never expected the mortality rate to be so high! I'm losing about 1 every 5 days right now!
My LFS suggested to me that I should have really gotten
margarita snails because they don't suffer from the same problem. I picked up 4 margarita snails about 2 weeks ago to replace the casualities and all of them are doing fine still.
Any thoughts on this? 3 out of my 5 turbo snails are dead so far and I'm really getting depressed about this. Oh and while I'm discussing snails, I've also got 6
bumblebee snails in my tank and once again I researched them after purchase and have found out they are actually predatory and "best left in the ocean". Could these be the cause of my problems? Should they be removed? I've noticed my pod population has significantly dropped in the past couple weeks even though I have actually removed fish in that time.
