Suggestions on filtration for a FOWLR

TRT's, I am setting up a new tank, an 85g FO that is just about finished its initial cycle.

I'm wondering about filtration for big messy eaters (lion, puffer). I currently have about 50lbs LR and 1-2" LS in the tank. The skimmer will be a RemoraPro for at least the next six-months or until I hit the lottery! Anyhow, since the remorapro is a h.o.t. model I would like to go without a sump (although I did drill the tank with two one-inch overflows before I filled it, just in case!) What additional filtration should I use? I don't think I could put enough LR in to filter these messy boys, lol! Would something like a large power filter (ex. emporer 400) be enough to go along with what I already have?

If need be I can put in a sump, I can fit a 40g tank under this one, it's on cinder blocks and has plenty of room under it.

This picture is just after setup, I have since added a bit more sand and 30lbs of LR (it looks good so far with a mix of Fiji, MI, and Tonga branch).

Thanks gang!
chris

I use a Fluval 305MSF on my lions tank and am happy with it. I dont use a skimmer on that tank.
