Suggestions for refugium for 30 gallon..
Hey Folks...thinking of adding a fuge to my 30 gallon....looking for suggestions and please keep in mind I'm attempting to save some cash for my golf trip to Hilton Head in the spring...  ....any diy projects....any thoughts would be great....thanks!...RJ

Just about anything that holds water would work for a refug. If you have a sump for your tank, the easiest thing to do is to add a rubbermaid container to the sump. Even if you just add a simple bucket with a DSB in it would help. Just connecting a couple of bulkheads to the bucket would give enough water flow for a DSB to work.

Depends on the flowrate thru the sump, also you need some way to keep stuff out of the return pump. Dividiing the sump before hand is good way to go, as well as splitting the drain line so it feeds two seperate ares, ie refuge and the skimmer part of the sump

I'm not running a sump....just a CPR bakpak...and the tank's ben great for years...just want to remove some of the calurpa from the tank itself...

Do you have Wal Mart or similar stores up there?
They have relatively cheap acrylic aquaium setups that could be converted to hand refugium. Drill for small,(1/2" bulkheads) or similar and use a small phead to pump tank water to the fuge, gravity drain, if you can get it higher than the tank

Yep we have Walmart....it's right next to Igloo Depot...  ...I'll check there..that does make the best sense....no fear of flooding out that way...
