Striped Puffer and Porcupine Puffer Food

Any suggestions on feeding for these two fish? They are roughly 4" long and so far have been feeding them frozen brine shrimp. Anything larger I could feed them, say something that the other smaller fish wouldn't devour before the puffers have a chance to eat? Any brand recommendations, etc... much appreciated, thanks.

Hi Bill

You could feed them small piece of raw shrimp, squid, just about any sea food.

In the wild they eat clams and crustaceans that help keep their teeth ground down. Spanky had the very clever idea of putting a cuttle bone (the type you use for a parakeet, etc.) in the tank for them to sharpen their teeth upon

Hi Bill! I make a mush of raw shrimp, clam, scallop and krill(add a little salt water from your tank) and put it in a freezer bag and flatten it out and then freeze it and when I feed the puffer and other fish, I break off a chunk and feed them and they all get their share. Johnny

we fed our puffer frozen prawns or i found this seafood melody mix in the seafood dept. at Fred Meyer's that has cuttle fish, shrimp, mussels, clams, and whitefish, very cheap and the puffer seems to like the cuttle fish the best. didn't like the mussels but the brittle star ate those so it didn't goto waste. i think a 2lb bag was like 3.19 and has lasted me over 3 months with feeding of prawns now and then as a treat. try not to feed them goldfish is all i say. if they eat it and look healthy then somethings right!
