Question

Striped Blenny A.K.A. Poison Fang Blenny question

Well, I got this guy about a week or so ago. Hes fat n happy but I havent seen him eat yet. Im feeding the same as the LFS fed him. Saw him eat there. He does pick off of the rock some times. He looks good and his beahavior is great. Just cant figure it out. How long would a non-eating fish take to show signs of starvation? This guy is active and playfull and seems very healthy. Does anyone have one of these? Help and suggestions please.
I feed Marine Cuisine carnivorous cube about every three days, a little at a time till everyone else seems full. (about five minutes). I try not to overdo it so as not to waste alot and overload the system.
Thanks

Robert

why don't you try to feed your fish once a day for a minut at the time, insted of once in 3 days for 5 minuts.

my Blenny eats very well,he did from the minut i brought him home.
he might be sick but does not show any signs yet.
let us know how he is doing.
good luck.

What is it, a Grammistes blenny? I've had mixed luck with them... apparently there are some CB ones, but I've not seen any. If he's grazing on the rock, I wouldn't worry too much - try some Mysis shrimp and/or garlic in the food that might encourage him to eat.

Seachem has a new product called "Entice" that's supposed to be an appetite stimulant - it's banana oil or something. I've seen it/smelled it but haven't tried it... but it might be worth a try... at the very least it will do no harm. The purpose of the product is to initiate a feeding response... like I said I haven't tried it but just letting you know it's out there.

I have heard some people using garlic extreme to entice feeding too.

Jenn, yes it is a Grammistes Blenny. He still wont eat the cube (what he ate at the LFS) I think he may be looking a little slimmer. He does do alot of grazing on the rock. Gonna try garlic tomorow.
