strange hitcher in a rock

i have a piece of live rock that has some kind of worm like creature lurking in it.. i have seen up to 3 "legs or arms" comming out of the rock... it won't leave the rock either .. can't get a pic of it .. when i get close it hides.. the "arms/legs" or what ever they are are out it looks like a serpent star leg. it hasn't done anything to anyone except it did grab a dead chromis. i have the piece of rock sitting in a container with water above 1.044+ and it still won't vacate the rock.. its been in that water for about 45 minutes..

any ideas??

are the legs white with black rings around them? if they are, I noticed 3 of these on one of my rocks today as one tried to grab a crab as it walked by.

Sounds like a brittle star.

i don't think its a brittle star.. when its in the rock it looks like an earthworm.. when it is out of the rock so to speak it looks like legs of a brittle star.. i could bust up the rock i guess.. its just a piece of rubble..

oh.. and i have a group of 3 on this one rock only also..

the real funny thing is .. it was in a container with about a half gallon of water that was above 1.044 for several hours and still didn't vacate the rock.. going to keep an eye out for it to see if it pops out.. i had to leave shortly after posting this to get my kids from southwest florida.. i live in northeast florida.. lol.. a trip i hope not to do any time soon.. especially on short notice..

Suspend the rock above about an inch of water in a bucket and leave it while you're gone, the critter WILL come out while you're gone and the room is dark and drp into the water, two or so days will do it.

Pixs when it shows up, please!

Whatever this is, I have it. The "legs" are very thin. It looks scary.
