Strange coralife super skimmer 65 problem

Alright, so I've had this skimmer for about 2 months now, without a single problem, then today, when I was cleaning my tank, it starts producing an insane amount of bubbles. You know that when looking at the skimmer, the bottom two or three inches below where the bubbles are released into the chamber are normally bubble free? Well now the bubbles are all throughout the chamber, can't see through it at all, and its spewing massive amounts of microbubbles throughout the entire tank?

I've heard of these things not producing any bubbles, but never producing too many bubbles. Like I said, the valvues weren't changed or moved. I was just staring at my tank when all of a sudden it started spewing. . . . .

HELP!!

It can be rebuilt.

there are a couple of things that can cause an over abundance of bubbles. one of the most common is using epoxy in the tank. it will cause any skimmer to go absolutely bonkers. changes in alkalinity and salinity will also cause changes in the skimmers behavior.

that is good to here, I just used epoxy just a few minutes before it started to happen, but I've used epoxy in the past with out this problem.

Anyone got anything else?

How long would I have to wait before I can start using the skimmer again?

If you cleaned it then it will have to break in again. I remember that my super skimmer did the same thing when I first put it in. Think back, did your skimmer do the same? It took my skimmer about 2-3 days before it stopped spewing out microbubbles everywhere.

That never happens to me...but even though I have mine turned all the way down..it sporadically ( once every few weeks ) suddenly fills up with water and starts overflowing.... I've resorted to leaving a towel under it beneath the tank in case I don't catch it right away.

Glad to hear it's back to normal! Mine acts up every once in a while too and will overflow unexpectedly, that's why I've moved it into the sump instead of the hang on back location.
