Strange Anemone Behavior

Hey everyone!

I just had a quick question for everyone. The red bubble tip anemone in my tank has moved himself to a location behind the rocks where i can't even see him. I am curious as to why he would do this. is it possible that he likes to be in the dark more than the light? also any ideas on how to coax him out without moving all of the rocks around to get to him? i want to feed him but i cant even get to his tentacles. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys,
jim

It will move until a suitable home is found. A combination of light and flow.

Ever heard the old joke....

"Do you know where a 600lbs Gorilla sits?!?.........Anywhere he wants!!"

....same is true of an anemone. the thing will move around until it decides it likes it somewhere. i've had anemones sit in one spot for 6 months and then overnight move somewhere totally different.

the things have minds of there own....

as far as coaxing it...about all you can do is change your water movement and lighting and see where it ends up.

Didnt you just upgrade to mh? If so it may take him some time to adjust to the new lighting.

My BTA moved around because (unknown to us) one of my clowns was bothering him too much. He kept moving to darker areas until he was so small he was almost dead. I finally took the rock he was on and put him in a clownless tank. He seems to be better now, starting to grow again. Could one of your fish be bothering him, i.e., trying to host in him?

none of the other fish realy go near him. so i dont know about him being agitated. my best guess would be the change in lghting that has affected him. since yesterday he has come out and found a better spot in the tank.
