Store-Bought Water

Hi,

I was just wondering if any of you have ever used purrified water from the grocery store. I have been using Great Bear purrified from the local Safeway store and so far, I have not seen any problems. The label says it is filtered with RO and DI. I used some Safeway brand to set up my 10 gal nano, but then found out that it was distilled, and thus a potential source of copper (oh no, I said the word). I am not ready to go out and buy an RO unit for a 10 gallon tank, so I was wondering if you folks think this water is safe and if not, what some other options are. Thanks.

As long as its RO/DI it should be OK Hopefully they maintain the machines regularly, the standards for acceptable drinking water are far lower than needed for a reef tank. For a 10 gal tank its an inexpensive alternative. When you get tired of lugging water containers you might consider a $30 Tap Water Purifier cartridge or better yet 2 in series and make water on demand. LAter when the big tank bug bites you you can get a no frills RO to use in front of them and have RO/DI somewhat painlessly
