Sting survival rate?

Disaster!

My beautiful green Rhodactis (giant hairy mushroom - about 6" across when fully expanded) broke free of his rock mooring and drifted into a large tube anemone. The Rhodactis showed severe damage from multiple stings on about one third of the tissue on the underside of the shroom. The top cap looks fine. He's fully retracted and folded in - I guess protecting the damaged area. I'm going to use the bridal vail trick to see if he'll re-attach to a new rock over the next few weeks.

Anybody have any experience with this? Is the Rhodactis likely to survive or am I wasting my time and potentially degrading my water quality as its condition declines(I put in a Polyfilter as a precaution)? Are any infection treatments useful in this application (vitamin C, Lugols etc.)?

Thanks for your advise!

Hi Doug! I don't know if this helps but I had a nice Ricordea mushroom rock that fell into a bubble coral and over half looked really bad but I left it alone and it is back better than ever and you can not tell anything happened! Pretty amazing what your corals will do! Johnny

Nature is totally amasing sometimes - I guess I'll wait and watch. Thanks

yeah...i don't believe you're going to have any problems either. just leave it alone and i'm sure it will make a dramatic comeback. the upside about mushrooms is that they're hardy...the downside about mushrooms is, well, they're hardy (and can take over your tank!) LOL...good luck man
