Starting over

I just tore down the leaking 30 and will begin to set up 72BF with 20 sump I will be running Turboflotor multi 1000 with upgraded pump 125# LR mag 9 return MH lighting and RO/DI water. this will only house the typical reef fish a few percs some snails crabs ect. My question is: on my old tank i had a real bad phosphate problem like 2 times a day i was scraping glass and always my sand was covered in brown hair algea. a week ago i installed RO/DI unit and will be using this exclusivly for changes/top offs. does anybody have any other suggestions on preventing insane algea out breaks?

Take Your time , and let the tank muture without over stocking it, You will get all the normal algea blooms in the begiing but that will past, The RO/DI will be a big help in Your battle. and get into a good system on Your water changes, the new Ro system will make it easy to do.

Yeah...I had the same problem.

RO/DI water, cleaning the rockwork/substrate (just the top, if it's a SB), and keeping a VERY close eye on your feeding are the three ingredients to controlling algae!

TO rinse or not to rinse

New sand. I have been told by many not to rinse just let the milkshake settle natuarlly over the course of a week in the tank with no PH or water movement is this ok?
