Started my cycle today... More waiting ARG

OK, I threw in a few pieces of LR to seed my tank and also some peeled raw shrimp to get it going.

So now what do I do? Watch my ammonia levels and sit on my hands?

I need to get my arse out and make my DIY rock so that it is cured by the time the tank is cycled.

yup sit back and wait, start planning your build

go slow and be patient. That is the hardest part of this hobby.

I need to install an electric fence around the tank that wont go off for about 40 days.... That might help!

Since I have thrown the shrimp in to rot, can I at least watch the ammonia levels and once they drop throw some chromis in ?

I really feel I might go insane waiting a month with an empty tank.

Maybe put a blanket over it,so you don't see it.

I wouldn't have thrown the shrimp in, and just used the die off of the LR to start the cycle and then throw a chromis but you should be fine with your plan to get ammonia level down and then take the shrimp out and throw in a chromis.
