Stars Tenticles Falling off

Two of my stars tenticles seem to be getting shorter.
They look like they are being eaten. Though I have watched for hours at a time and have never seen my fish eating them.
One is an orange star and the other is a very large green serpent.
The tank is a 75 and I have a yellow tang, a pajama cardinal, a 6 stripe wrasse , and a clown. Oh yeah I also have three scholling catfish.
Does anyway have any ideas as to what could be going on with the stars?

Thanks,
Dustin

It could be head and leatteral line errosion or something like that is found in invertibrates, as far as i know it only happens in fish but you never know. if its not that its probably something eating it, could be other inverts.

I just went through the same thing with my Serpents and Brittles. When I tested my water, it was fine. Here is what I was told.

They will "melt" for several reasons.

Not having a grounded tank.

A low PH. Even if it tests okay, they like it higher.

And, they dont like salinity fluctuations. If you do not add water to your sump consistantly, it will make the salt level rise and fall more than they can tolerate.

Maybe one of these will help.
