Starfish problem

we purchased a starfish earlier today - acclimitized it by drip method for a couple of hours when we placed it in the tank it curled into a ball ............4 hours later it is still in a ball -my guess is I have a dead starfish ----any thoughts? it was a small orange starfish.........

acclimation should always be very long with these guys, problem is, that is still kinda vague, if you have a gallon jug, and you drip water into it very slowly, after 5 hours, you didnt change the salinity very much. you need to work with the amount you have, slowly drip, and after the container is full, dump half of it, do the whole system again a few times untill the container water is more tank water than store water. then introduce the animal. sometimes that can take a very long time, even over a couple hours. just gotta do what you need to do. i hope you just scared it though, and it comes around for ya.

I acclimates my new starfish for almost 6 hours. It's doing great for one week now, but I've never seen it ball up. If you acclimated slowly, you should be OK. Just give it some more time. Welcome to TRT.
