Star Polyp Colony Dying Off

Please help: My Star polyps are dying off, I have no idea why. My xenia looks good. Could it be because I don't have a calcium reactor. Some of the matting from which the polyps grow, is starting to turn black. Here is a picture of my tank. The colony is in the red box. The flow is shown by the blue spray. Please help.

When that happen you need to do a water change right away and change the flows to shot towards them. Mine started to and I change the flow and everything is okay again.

make sure it isn't a sponge or algae crowing on it. I notice significant polyp loss on my gsp. Removed and found it to be a sponge. Used a fine tooth brush and cleaned it all off. The polyps reappeared after a day or so. Yes good flow is important. Mine is in direct flow now no more sponge problems.

Thanks Guys, I will reposition them in an area of higher flow. I will let you know if it helps.
