Yeah throw you a shrimp in there. That would be the best thing you can do. I would also go to the LFS and buy a small piece of awesome looking live rock. Nothing big......maybe a 1lb rock. That will help you get your worms and stuff in your sand bed as well as more bacteria in your system.

Well once they have something to eat...aka the shrimp.....you may see worms starting to bore tunnels in your sand within the next week or two. You should start to see nitrogen bubbles in your sand within the next week as well. your live rock probably had some good stuff in it. If you can......try to get some live sand from a very established tank.....up at least a year.....that will be more beneficial then anything!

Ok, I got 2 uncooked shrimp at walmart. The first one is raw-wild caught USA...but it's pink. I thought all raw shrimp are grey and turn pink when u cook them. The other is raw-wild caught thailand and that one is grey. So should use the pink USA shrimp or the grey foreign shrimp?

Just drop them in? Should I tie a string on it to get it out? Shell it first if not going to attach the string?
Thanks!!!

Shell them and dump them in and net them when done.

I ground mine up.......but that just makes a mess....wouldnt advise that. haha. Eventually it will start to get really squishy and start to just go away. Make sure you have your powerheads on too to spread the little shrimp goo around. haha.

my recommendation (and has always worked for me) is to take the shrimp and put it in one of those media bags. Then take an old HOB filter and remove the filter pads and biowheel and stick the bag inside it. It only takes a coupe of days for the shrimp to be in the tank... not long at all.

Nice looking floors and build as well. The Marco rock looks great. I know Jorge and the gang will do their best to take care of you as well.
I like Tony's idea for the shrimp. Another option is to put it in a section of nylon panty hose.

I may be late to get on the wagon here, but I wanted to say that your setup looks amazing! Great job, I wish I could build like that. Imagine the money i would have saved. Awesome man, look forward to seeing more images.

Thanks!
I love Jorges selection...however, I am a little leary of his prices. However, word around town is that he has some of the best livestock around. You get what you pay for when it comes to that.

Welcome aboard.
Time time time... I cant sit still, its one of the things my wife complains about...Ill have to go back through my ledger at some point and add up all the expenses. The most expensive portion by far was the lighting.
thanks for the compliments!
