Halides are Up
Here are the Pheonix 14000K bulbs.
Will they become less blue? I have 2 24" 10K t5 to install yet, so maybe that will cancel out some blue.
Otherwise....watch for the bulbs on the classified page!

Looks great!!! A little blue, but your 10k's will help for sure. I dont know if they will help out that much....but they will help. The ARO ballasts are GREAT!! Do you like them?

I really like them. They are nice and quiet. I have been watching my heat rise up and down by about 5 degrees even with the fans on.
I also got my skimmer nice and quiet..
Do you think anyone would want these bulbs if I choose to sell them?
Ill install the 10Ks now and see how it changes!
Post back soon guys.

OK,the T5s are in and burning....Made a very small difference in the color. But not much. I suppose I either live with it or sell them. Do you guys know of anyone who would want them? Would Hellolights do an exchange?
Thanks

Maybe, they are pretty understanding. They have a live chat, shoot them a message. I would try out the Current 14k's and I know they dont have them......BUT if not that....than I would try just 10k's. And you could run actnics on your T5's

we shall see what they say
I shot them an email
Has anyone removed the center brace from their tanks? When i say remove, i mean replace. there is no light directly above it, but it still casts a shadow. I was thinking a piece of Acrylic, install it before cutting out the old one.

As long as you have something there, I dont see where it would be a problem. I was wondering the same thing. I get a little bit of a shadow.....but not having T5's.....not as much as you probably do.

I must have been asleep at the wheel and totally missed this build thread. Great job so far. Take your time and keep up the good work.
I run a 250 watt Phonix 14K over my 54 gallon as the only lighting. Once they burn in they are a little less blue, but you can definitely tell they are not 10K.
I may have to schedule a road trip sometime soon to see if I can meet up with you. I should be able to get you some starter corals for the tank once you have reached that point as well.

That would be cool. I am looking at RO/DI units on ebay right now. I suppose my next step would be to get that installed, and start my water cycling with my sand and LR. I am going very slow with this tank, mostly cause i need to time it with the install of the new flooring in the livingroom. I don't wanna have to move it after I start the cycle.
Corals would be great. I have never had to pay much for my corals when I had the 22 gallon reef, so I was not looking forward to having to pay heavy prices for some big corals when I can get litle corals and allow them to grow.
