Well, The wiring in the controller is complete. This does not include the MHs, the T5 or the Powerheads.....Next Purchase is the MH and the T5. I am going to buy them from Hello....unless anyone here has some used 150W DE MH ballasts and reflectors...

No need to pay, I have some extra black acrylic in the car hold. just PM what overall size you want and I'll slice and dice and drill a 76mm hole in the center. I'll let the little mounting holes to you.
Anyone know of a good (aka cheap) place to get lights. I don't want bottom of the barrel, but I don't wanto to be taken to the cleaners either. I just priced my 2 150W DE MH and a 24" T5 from hello and it tops out at over $550.00 with shipping!

Your stand is gorgeous! I wish I could build one that nice. It's so much better than anything in the stores. Good job! Can't wait to see the tank up and running.

Thank you. With the right tools and patience, I am sure most anyone can do better then I have. Give it a try!

haha, I have tried 3 times.....wasted probably 400-500 bucks building stands. Finally decided it was a LOT cheaper to just buy a premade or have a cabinetry place make what I want. Of course........all I have is a jig saw, which made it super difficult. You stand is a piece of art. Absolutly gorgeous. Have you decided on a way to vent it? Are you going to use another computer fan to vent out the back or sides?

what a great build! My gpa also told me that with the right tools (LOTS OF MONEY) anyone can make stuff...but not many people seem to have the "right tools". That stand looks great! Nice to see you took your time and got it done so nicely!

Agreed, but the only "right" tool I have is a table saw...I think it was 250 at HD. Everything else, clamps, drill, jig saw are pretty cheap. I considered buying the 100 dollar tablesaw, but in the end decided that I would likely use it many more times. My wife already has my next three projects layed out!

By the end of this thread, I wouldn't be surprised if the tank was actually just a robot that made its own food, did water changes, and spawned McCulloch clown fish.

I did the DIY setup from Hello. 1 250w MH and 2 t-5's for my 50g. I am very happy with it and well priced in my opinion. Look under HQI/T5 retrofit kit. Around 300 with bulbs. Based on your other wiring you are more than qualified.

Yeah....I would stick with reputable lights. I LOVE my ARO ballasts and reflectors from hello lights. (kinda....they were originally) I have bought all of my bulbs from them, and they are a good company.
