Stange thing in the tank???

I was moving a coral head last weekend and I found this rather odd thing growing in the tank. It is about an inch across, round with a root that attaches it between the rocks. It is soft but under tension. Like it is fluid filled. It has not grown over the past week. I checked a couple of hitchhiker forums and I did ont see anything like it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Connie

Nice link RWD but what it doesn't tell is try not to rupture it when you remove it, or you'll likely have the D@*N things all over your tank. I've got a frag tank that I just can't seem to eradicate it from.

if you can remove from the tank as is, if not can the rocks it is next to or attached to come out ? this way you can remove it and toos the bubble and NOT break it in the water...i was lucky to be able to do this in my sink and not the tank!

I agree with the others, Connie, bubble algae. If it were me, I would do as tims suggested and remove the rock from the tank before removing this algae.

Thanks! I never knew bubble algae come in such a large size. I have had the small stuff before, but never anything this size. I will see if I can remove the rock and get it out.

this is probably not a good idea (my disclaimer) but I had a few in my tank and to get rid of them I punctured the bubble with the edge of a piece of rubber tubing that I used to siphon away all the spores. I used a large tube so it would catch as runaways. It seemed to work for me.....for now....we'll see!
