stands

I need to upgrade the stand my 55 gallon came on in the next year( may be sooner). . I don't like what I'm seeing at various stores, wish I could just drag my dresser downstairs and b. be sure that it would hold it up.

Are there any plans for building a nice stand? Any suggestions on creating one cheaper than the $300-$400 I'm seein gin stores for what I don't consider worth it>?

TY

You might consider finding someone who builds cabinets for a living who would like to do a side job or portfolio piece, or someone who likes to build things as a hobby... they may not be the easiest to find, but they're out there.

You might also want to dip into another well (albeit controversial)... here in Atlanta, there is a large number of Brazilians and Mexicans who are in construction who keep their eyes open for side jobs and will do it for kinda cheap if nobody else wants to do it within your budget.

Just suggestions... arguments can be made both for and against it.

Hope this helps (for whatever it's worth)

I'm not sure about your part of the country, but overall the housing market is in bad shape. There are many well qualified carpenters that are hungry for work. In my area they are starving. Maybe you can find a small business owner that will build you a cabinet for not alot of money. It will still cost you at least 3 to 4 hundred bucks, but the cabinet will be much nicer than what they sell at your LFS. This is a cabinet I built for my 29gl tank. One of the doors are off in the picture.
