Stand help...
Ok, so i moved my entire 300g empty tank setup yesterday all by myself... can you say ouch (yes my muscles were bulging ). so i have it in the living room where i have room to work on cleaning it up. the tank is fine but the stand is kinda icky. the wood is in good condition but has been worn a little by SW splashes on it. the varnish has worn off and it needs some help.
I would appreciate some advice on simple things i can do to make the stand look good again...

is the wood stained?? If so, sand down worn places with coarse, then fine grit sandpaper. Take a sponge or airhose to blow off excess saw dust. restain it to match, then put 2 coats of urithane on it. It will be good as new. If not stained and the wood is natural color, just skip the staining step.

yep, sand it, (get a nice virating sander from the home stores, not that much, and well worth the elbow grease) then do what you want to it, if you want it stained a different color, its going to take alot of sanding, or you can paint it. or what ever!!

Agreed! Random orbiting sander (hand held) is one of the greatest inventions ever for people who build stands. Can't go wrong with sanding, filling, staining, and varnishing. May take a few days but well worth it. Use spar varnish for a waterproof exterior.

I've got a brand new orbital sander if you want to borrow it. I've only used it a few times to buff out scratches in my tank.

It's got a dustbag but I think it's more gimmic than useful.
