Stand build for my 180 acrylic in wall

I will post some pics of my stand build for my 180. It will appear to be in wall but I don't know if it will actually count since it is actually in my utility room and I cut a hole for the rec room. I will post some pics in a few minutes after I resize them.

p.s. I am not nearly finished with the finishing work so criticize gently.

This is a pic of the rec room side of the wall. The little girl is my 6 year old daughter. She is my oldest.

This is a pic from the utility room side of the stand. The door you see will be removed because the tank comes out almost to the other side of the door. My wife was not pleased when I informed her of this issue. The little girl is soon to be my middle child. She is 3.

here is a pic of the wall after the wood paneling has been taken off. We bought this house a little less than a year ago and we think wood paneling should be outlawed. The previous owners have the junk all over the house. We hate it.

This is a pic of the hole I had to cut into the drywall to allow access to the utility room. It will be finished with a bi-fold door when we get the money to put one in. This was the hole that my wife was the most displeased with. It looks terrible now but after the door and trim work is finished it should look decent.

Here is a pic of the stand. All vertical pieces had to be cut individually since the floor slopes in 2 directions. That was alot of fun.

here are some pics of the tank holding water. This is just a stress test that the stand and floor passed now for about 2 weeks. I think it is safe to go ahead with the rest of the install. I will be doing the finishing work next then purchase the ro/di. I think I will have a plumber come in and install the ro/di in the furnace room to negate the need to truck water 5 gallons at a time from the upstairs kitchen. I am still thinking about 8 to ten months before I get any livestock in there. OOOOHHH the agony of waiting.

Thank you for this post. I too would like to do the same between the bedroom and den with a closet on both sides. I like the support frame Not bulky but it looks like you are pushing about 600lb of support per square inch on the frame . I light weight thick rubber foam under the stand on under the tank for settling, I was so afraid of a stress crack. I was thinking of a air duct over the tank as well did you do anything in that area ..

On one of my free standing tand and conopy I wanted a little more re-enforcement, I used met brackets as well. I really wish I had painted them, the oxidation is bad now, so I figured I needed to coat them, well been really busy so no time to take it all apart, I used a hot glue gun and took the pain and whipped it over the brackets, a few burt fingers later I sowed the decay down. anyway I noticed the brackets and the reminder of buring fingers came to mind.

More pics, more pics, more pics I need you to do all the hard parts and post them so I don't have to!hehehe

I just set my tank up similar to yours. I definetly agree, paint everything. I used kilz because it creates a seal on everything and it is supposed to resist moisture and the possibility of mold.

I never thought of painting it. I used the metal corner brackets to make it easier to get a 90 degree corner. What product do you use to paint sheet metal that is also salt water resistant.

I made a stand before using the sheet metal corners. My nephew was playing near me and to make a long story short I had to make a trip to the emergency room to get 4 stitches put in my leg about an inch above my knee. It was only up for about 2 years and I had no problem with corrosion. Maybe that just wasn't enough time.

Is 600 psi enough support? I am also putting a 75 gal underneath for a sump so that is going to be around 600 more pounds.
