Sps temps

Bought a chiller and wondered what is the ideal temp for them and what I should set it to being that the warmer temps are coming. This morning, one of them had slight bleaching probably from the temps being so low last night. We had a crazy swing here in NY.I bought the 1/10th hp prime and a mag7.Have'nt gotten it yet. Some can take it and some can't.

The first time I saw the temp get high in my 90 I about freaked, I went out and got a pin point wireless thermometer. It ran a few day ate 84 to 85 degrees, but everything was doing ok, I have it down now and the high is about 82 yesterday.

High temp can be bad, but what can be really bad is quick and dramatic temp CHANGES. Stability is very important. I run my tank at 79 with a chiller also.

Lately ive beenfighting temp...have a chiller but need to hook it up still.

Ive been consistently running 78.5-82.5 every day. Nothing SEEMS to be affected by the swings but im sure its not IDEAL and working on it. I havent figured out WHERE im putting the chiller yet. I need to move my skimmer out of the way for a minute to put the chiller in place. At this point i can only take the TOP off of my skimmer. I LOVE space restrictions.

I had to run the shiller out of the stand. It will produce alot of heat so make sure it has ventilation from the stand or it will work against itself.

haha..Thats just how tight my space IS. My skimmer IS out of the stand as well!! I took out my woodstove and the tank sits on my tile hearth.

I have a mostly SPS dominated tank...and I set my heaters to 79° and my chiller to 81°. never goes over, never goes under.

They've all been doing really good for over 6 months now.

Vince hit it on the head though...no so important WHERE you keep your temp...as it is that you KEEP your temp as close to that value as possible at all times.

SPS's desire stability WAY more then they do an absolutely correct value. If your parms are stable...SPS's are actually WAY more forgiving then we give them credit for.
