Question

spraybar

I now have 2 occilating wave makers in the middle of the tank ( one top one bottome) pushing out 300gph each and I was wondering if i should place 2 spraybars behing the rockwork. If so I will have 3/4" pvc with a 90 degree bend around the overflow box. This will get rid of all the buildup behind the rock. There will be about 500 gph going through these if in place...does this sound like a good idea?? Do you think I am getting enough flow through the tank being that it is a 55 gallon??

Good idea on the spray bars. But IMO still not enough flow. Why not just drill the tank for a CL and maek a spray-bar LR rack combo? http://www.internetsyndicate.com/per...frontclose.jpg something like this or http://www.oregonreef.com/images/photos/p_039_s.jpg and the CL like this http://www.internetsyndicate.com/per...ightopdown.jpg but not that many holes. Maybe 4 across the back between the overflows with lok line to split it down to 2 each for a total of 8 outputs. Lokline has a 3/4 "Y" adapter to 1/2" lokline and these are adjustable for flow.

You'll need something more of a bigger pump, not pressure rated but a recirculating pump - ie: Sequence, AMP

good luck

for the sandstorm ? i would say that yeah at first u might get some of the sand blown around but then it will settle where there is less flow near the bottem but im just a newb

WHat about flow...would I get more flow if i used a T joint or a Y joint...my thinking is that it is the Y because of less defraction.

sution cup the spraybar to the inside f the tank at the back just above the sand, with the holes pointing up at 45 degrees from horizontal. cap one end, stick the other into a maxiJet 1200. That will be plenty to move crud from the bottom areas of the rock. To get REALLY fancy, use several male-female threaded fittings along the length, or since it is totally IN the tank, a little leak is ok, so just use slip fittings and place one every 10 or so inches, this will allow you to adjust and tune your direction of the flow in each section of pipe.

Closed loop without the cost or time or hassle of drilling.

you could go as big as a Mag 5 pump on the above suggestion without causing too many problems with heat (unless you have no sump and a covered top and MH bubs)

I came up with an idea and I need an opnion or 2...ok so i was thinking about 2 inlets to the CL and 2 spraybars/rock stand...the intakes(1") will be flush against the back corner of the overflow(the outside wall of the overflow) on each side and have a Y connector to connect the tubing to a pump. As for the outlets they will be positioned to the left and right of the intakes( about 4") with a Y tube going into these to split the flow to both. A spraybar with create flow and also a secure stand for the rock.
