Sponges don't need a lot of light or flow. Many of them grow in shade and even complete darkness (like on the bottom of the lr in your tank.). One thing you do want to be careful of is that they cannot have any contact w/ air. If the lfs or you when you get home expose them even for a few seconds to air either the whole sponge will die or the part that got exposed will. They are very difficult to transport because of this.

Here is the whole air/sponge death thing. Thy are filter feeders and they need water to pass through to eat. If they get a bubble in their very delicate tissues it can get stuck. It prevents them from filtering. Jets of water may dislodge the air bubble but realize some of their structures are damaged quite easily.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.
