SpectraPure RO/DI filter life?

I have been using my SpectraPure RO/DI for 1 year now with the same filters. I can't even guess how many gallons it has produced but I do know that the TDS readings are still ZERO. Coming into the unit, my TDS is ~100. The prefilter is a filthy reddish/brown. I have read that it should be changed every 6 months. Do I replace all 3 filters(pre/carbon/di) at once or the prefilter now? I hate to change things that still have life left in them.

I would change the sediment and carbon filters regularly like every 6 months. Then the DI resin with your TDS readings arnt 0 anymore.

get an in-line dual TDS meter and set it up between the output for the RO membrane and tthe input for the DI cartridge, and the second one in the outlet line for the finished product. Use the outlet one for measuring the final product, and the one in the RO line to determine when you need to replace the membrane. When the cartridge for the initial filtration is dirty, replace all the filters in the cartridges, or when the final product starts to go up in TDS above 3

I currently have this TDS meter. I never really thought about having it configured that way but it makes perfect sense. I do flush mine every so often and the unit is only a year old. What tds # would you wait to see before replacing the membrane?

http://www.waterfiltersonline.com/td...s.asp#membrane

once rejection drops below 80%, it is time to replace the membrane
