Speaking of Hermits....

Speaking of hermits.....I have become one. For the passed 3 months, I have slowly delved into this hobby. I started just wanting a simple saltwater fish only tank, and now I want the whole shabang-bang..........bang. My friends have complained to me about how much time I have been spending at home and on the internet, so I had to tell them about my new obsession. They thought I had a girlfriend, but I told them "no man, I am just trying to get this reef tank started". And their like "what's so hard about that?", and then I said "dude......you have no idea".

Well anyways, I just started out with..

40 gallon tank/stand
emporer 330 filter
seaclone 100 skimmer
sattelite 2/96 watt moonlite
2 aquaclear 3000 powerheads
20 pounds of live aragonite
20 pounds of reg aragonite
150 watt heater

And this is what I added..
aquaclear 4000 pump
u tube flow output director
500 gph overflow with hose and dual bulkheads
custom made canopy
10 gallon refugium sump
9" 18w actinic/10k daylight coralife light for refugium
6 Stage reverse osmosis/dionizer filter
44 gallon BRUTE by rubbermaid trashcan
32 gallon BRUTE by rubbermaid trashcan
bucket of Instant Ocean
5 pounds of miracle mud
5 pounds of oolitic sand

still need to buy live rock!

My friends are always amazed at how much time and money I pour into this addiction. When my friends or other people see the tank for the first time they are always like, wow, I need one of these tanks. Then I proceed to tell them about the financial and time costs of this hobby and they are like, never mind. I don't know how you could see a cool reef or two and NOT want to spend all your free time and money to keep these awsome creatures right in your home.

I guess thats the downside of living in CA. You have to have an excuse to stay indoors. Down south we stay inside for 3 months every summer and up north its 3 mounths every winter.
