soooo blue
ok, i got a "real" light for my tank last night...i was just using whatver the heck was in there when the tank was given to me, i dont have any corals yet, so i figured it didn't matter...anyhoo, i got a marine glo actinic 15 watt...it's SO BLUE...it looks odd. i mean, blue is my favorite color, but this is overkill....i remember this happened with my 55 gallon, but i also had a "life-glo" bulb that didn't have the blue tinge so it wasn't as shocking, but i only have a 20 gallon now, and the hood only accomidates one bulb...i've never cared *too* much about lights, i'm too poor to buy corals anyway, but i should have this actinic light, right? will it fade a bit? i'm all confused

Spam from the tank you are discribing I would say its all about your personal prefence. Use what ever color light or combination of lights that make the tank more disirable to you.

marine glo's put out kind of a off blue/greenish kinda color, compare one to a coralife and you'll see. When it comes to single NO bulbs, coralife 20000K are my favorites. fwiw

When I was getting my first bulb for my 55, I got a Marine-Glo as well, and didn't like it at all. I returned it and got a Power-Glo and that is much better... at least until I can get VHOs and MH lights. By the way, the creatures in my tank seem to like it a lot.

I had a coralife actinic on my 38g and the blue was nice to the eye. If you have a few bucks to spare try the coralife.

Another vote for the power glo bulbs here. They are very white. A second strip light over the tank with the power-glo/marine-glo combo would be good too.

Trade it in for a Powerglo I had Marine glos on my 29 and liked the color(along with daylight bulbs) when I changed to 03 actinic, the looked like blacklight to me, but I got used to it. Can you put another striplight on there, a daylight and marine glo or act would look nice
Another choice for a single bulb would be a 50/50 bluish white light, prolly rated at about 10,000 K anyway
