some questions (kinda long post)

hi all, im new here and let me introduce myself first. my name is Matt, im 28 am a police officer for a town called Carpentersville in the NW burbs of Chicago. i in the process of buying my very first house and am thrilled. its being built so i wont take occupancy till around august.
i found this site a week ago and am addictied to it already. ive long been a fan of the beauty of marine aquariums but my mother never would let me even get a fresh water. i currently have a 55g fresh now but am in the beginning stages of what i will place in my basement of my new home. realistically im looking at two years for animals to be placed (am going to finish basement on my own). now for the questions

want to have a set that will be around 200-300 gl (display and sump/refugium). will this have an effect as far as humidity is concened. it will be an in wall set up.

are there some basic design plans (visual) that i can see to set up a complete system

would anyone be so kind as to give me a list of what i would need as far as equipment is concerned that i should get. i would like to start getting it now so i can spread the cost out.

what should be the first book to read for setting up.

thanks in advance and i hope i can become a part of your community

Hi Matt, and Welcome!

I hope you are able to find your answers here, and I wish you luck in your new endeavour! For starters, you've probably already found the archives, but that's a good place to start reading. There are a slew of books, and I think there's a list in the archives, too.

A big tank will definitely impact the humidity level in your home - we find it's actually kind of nice, especially in the winter. You may end up with a little more mold, but it's manageable.

Anyway, I need to get going, but happy reading!

Danielle
