Soft Coral Dying, please help!

Hi,

I just got this soft coral (don't know the name) from LFS last Fri. The first pic shows the coral when I bought it and the second one shows the current condition. The branch of the coral started to lean sideway one day after I got it. Then the center starts to have holes and some side branch look decomposing. I have removed the coral and left it in a bucket with air pump. Do I still have any chance of saving the coral?

Ken

Ken, Move it away from the coral its near
I have had a few finger type corals go through that due to parasites. I would give it a freshwater dip then give it a dip in new SW with Iodine(lugols or similar)
But with all the holes I can see, you might consider cutting off the healthy fingers and trying to get them to attach to new rocks HAve you spoken to the place you got it?

Hi Doug,

I will take your advice to give it a dip and also cut off some healthy branch. How do I attach the branch to rock? Is it ok to use rubber band around it?

that may work, tho a tooth pic thru the base rubber banded works well
A lot of times if you find a quiet spot or put sand in a bowl and shove it in like a plant cutting, after a week or so you can glue attached sand to a rock

Doug,

I have just fresh water dip (about 2 min) the coral, do you think the parasite will be gone? I have cut 4 branches from the coral and attached them to some rocks. Is it ok if I put the cut branches back to the main tank? If so, I will leave it at the bottom of the tank and see if it recovers. Does this coral need strong current or moderate?
