so there IS a crab in my tank!!!

Some of you might remember my mad crab hunt a few weeks ago ... and how that crab turned out to be a shell and not really a crab at all. Long story...
Well, it WAS a crab and I found it tonight! Totally by accident, but hey...
My polyps that I severely pissed off by reaquascaping my tank started dying (they turned black and got all mushy) so I asked by husband to break off the part of the rock with the dead polyps on it. When he cracked open the rock, this little guy came out:

I'm not sure if you can see it in these pictures, but he's got white hairs all over his body, so I think he is a gorilla crab, like you all suggested. What do you think?

Thanks! I have to say I was very relieved when I saw the crab tonight. My husband kept teasing me about seeing crabs that weren't really there. So now I have proof that I'm not crazy and I'm not seeing non-existant crabs!

I don't have a sump, so right now he's in a tupperware container (with small holes in it of course) in my tank. I'm not sure what to do with him. I was actually thinking of setting up a little tank for him but I have no clue what he'd need to survive. He's kind of cute... in a crabby sort of way. I don't want to kill him... Any ideas on what I should do with him?

you could set up a small tank, or just find someone you know with a sump and give it to them. there are a lot cooler crabs you could give their own tank IMO

I have a love/hate relationship with crabs. They kind of freak me out because they look like spiders and I HATE spiders... but their mannerisms crack me up. They're so little and they think they're so tough... it's so amusing! Now I think I really want a crab tank! What crabs would you get? What do you feed them?

I agree dont kill him. You might be able to take him to the lfs or find smeone with a sump to take him. Crabs will eat just about anything.
