So after 9 months, here's a FTS

Tanks been up for 9 months now and I've had some success and some failures. I've learned that stability is very important and that it IS possible to have too much light. It's also possible to have your tank TOO clean. So far, this is what's doing the best: xenia, zoanthids, green star polyps, colt coral, and coralline algae. What's not doing so well: any type of montipora species, torch, branching hammer, and mushrooms. The jury is still out on (have only had these for 3 weeks): acropora (has good PE and coloration), frogspawn, and birdsnest. Here is a FTS.

Thanks Doug, Patrick, and Dave!

GForce: for a very long time I had corals only and no fish so there was no nutrient import into the system, only export with strong skimming and carbon. I've learned that corals do need more than just light to do well. You have to "feed" the corals as well and that comes through food which is introduced into the system and then excess quickly removed before it has the chance to breakdown. Fish poop also needs to be quickly removed, thus the need for strong skimming and current.

Very nice! The acropora looks good to me, why do you think it might not be doing well?

Thanks Whiskey. I don't think the acro is doing poorly, I just haven't had it long enough to really know if it's doing well or not.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully, as the tank matures, I'll be able to post some growth shots. Especially now that I've got a new dig camera!
