Talking

Snorkeling

Well, I have been engaged for a year now, and we finally set a date to get married on February 2. 02/02/02. For our honeymoon we would like to go to where there is an impressive reef to go snorkeling and hang on the beach. I will probably get flooded with suggestions, but where would you all reccomend. I am just looking for peoples experiences here. Thanks.

Eluthera, Bahamas
St. John, USVI

That's the best I've got for Honeymoon and snorkeling.

St. John is more tourist friendly, with plenty to do. Even the ferry out of Red Hook for St. Thomas.

Eluthera, is more romantic with miles of pink sand beach. Private cottage on the beach or in town in Governors Harbor. The snorkeling is a lot better.

Bonaire is suppose to be very secluded and lots of great snorkeling. I was just told that St. Barths is also a very pristine area and great. In Dec. I will be in Aruba, which is good too, or so I am told.

I'm been to both Aruba and Bonaire and think Bonaire was better. It was just more lush and organized. However their best reefs are deep- but you can get scuba permits in 3 days. The night dives and wreck dives are worth it. Los Roques, Venezuela has some very snorkle-friendly reefs and white beaches.

I have Scuba Dived (Dove?) on just about every island in the caribbean. They are all great.

When people ask me where they should go I say "Anywhere south of Miami".

Just look for the best deal.

We usually make our plans many months ahead of time. A couple of winters ago we called a travel agent about 4 weeks before Christmas and asked her to try and book us a trip for Christmas week. She said "you know you can't be too picky calling this late". We said "Fine, anything south of Miami will do".
