Snail Explosion!!

Hi Everyone!! I was getting ready for bed and decided to check out my reef tank with the flashlight and my mouth fell open!! I could not believe the snails in my reef.
One large LR has over 200 on it and they range in size of a pea to very tiny ones! I dare to guess I have 400-500(could be way more than that since I cannot see the back of my reef) of these snails which I think are peppermint snails. Anyone have a pic of these?
I also have an explosion of nassarius snails as well and have alot of clear egg casings with about 5-6 in each one. The upper left hand corner of my aquarium has several of these casings! The snails seem to like to leave their egg casings where there is alot of water current. Can anyone see a problem developing here! My rocks sure look very clean so the snails must be doing an excellent job in that department.
I also have noticed another explosion of some type of shelled critter and not sure if it is a snail as well. It has a white shell and comes down to a point and they are very small and have not bothered any of my large snails or corals so hopefully these are ok as well.
My reef tank is about 11 months old and I guess it is maturing really well to have these kinds of explosions taking place. Just thought I would share this with you guys! Johnny
P.S. This is just an observation but when I had about a dozen of blue leg hermit crabs in my reef, I did not noticed but a small amount of these snails so I wonder if the hermits kept the population of snails in check and since I have gotten rid of the hermits they have been able to multiply quite rapidly.

Don't know about your different types of snailsl, but blue legs are murderers. They killed off all of my snails - and just for sport - they can't fit into those shells! Love my scarlets though.

I have recently made this same discovery. I think it is cool. The water must be in decent shape if your snails have become rabbits. IMO this can be a great thing too.
