Question

skimming


my bakpak is skimming sometimes,i have adjusted the level of collection cup up and down and now belive this is do to water conditions.can i start kalkwaser for better skimming or is there another way.thanks

Most new skimmers take a while to break in. You also need to experiment with cup height settings to see what works best for you, as well as fiddling with the air venturi adjustment.
Dripping Kalk won't necessarily improve skimming but it will help to bind the phosphates to the kalk for export from the water column. Kalkwasser or other Ca additives aren't really necessary at this point in your new tank's development as it will be when you are ready to add corals.
