Skimmer recommendations
 I have a budget of $150 to $200 total.
I will be using this skimmer in my 75 gal wall build. I would also like the ability to use it externally. I really like the octopus and AquaC, i just want something that works well and that will last for a few years. I do not want to replace it again in less than that time frame ...
Any recommendations?

Aqua C Remora probably not strong enough for a 75 gallon tank. As above, the super skimmer is your best bet within that budget and external. If you can do an in- sump skimmer, I would suggest the Octopus or a Euroreef for just a little bit more.

I was looking more to the EV series not the remora. Remora is a little old and dated and I want to use external not internal on in sump because I plan to have a refug built into sump.

I have the AquaC Remora. Pulls out some nasty stuff but it is loud as hell. It actually blows my mind that it collects about 1/4 cup a day and there are no fish in my tank. On top of that I have it adjusted to make more of a dry foam.

I use an octopus recirc model, and love it. It's the rps-2000 recirc.

I'm using a Coralife Super Skimmer 125 on a 36 gallon tank. For 75g, go with the SS 220

Im using the SS125. Its ok. It pulls out nice gunk, but its a PITA when you have to adjust it. I havent had air bubbles for 2-3 days in mine after the water level changed. I dont know how to fix it either. Try maybe an ASM G3

I use the Aqua C Remora on my 77 and it works very well, it pulls quite alot of gunk out of my water and I only have two fish.

OK, so you're talking about the Ev series - unfortunately, i don't think you can get one of those for anywhere near your budget of $150-$200, and that's not including the price of the pump . It's a good skimmer, although some would say that a MRC skimmer is better for about the same price. Sticking to your $200 max budget, I'd strongly consider the Octopus 110 recirc which sells for exactly $200 .

i love my octopus, but im not too sure on making it a external model, im sure its possible, but just seems like a lot of diy pain in the butt, if your doing a inwall, do you have room to make a skimmer compartment in your sump? the octo doesnt need much at all.

they make an external recirculation model so its not a diy project. They are a little more expensive than the insump models. I have also seen the insump models converted into an external but I dont have the need for that, so ill let it stay insump

How are you guys pulling a dry foam on the remora pro?
I have a remora pro on the 55 and a coralife ss external on the 29 - even with the touchy adjustment I would buy a coralife any day of the week over the remora at this point.
Could be me, I am still new, but the css is quieter and pulls more junk
the remora is more usuer friendly - plug and go, but I find it hard to adjust - and it's loud. I run mine with the prefilter box and a mag 3 in the tank - lets just say... loud and takes up precious tank space
