Skimmer Ques??? How Deep...

I was just wondering how deep the water is where you are setting your skimmer in the sump. Mine is about 11" deep. I have to keep it cranked down pretty much all of the time.

Depends on the skimmer and the skimmer manufacturer's recomendation. Most are around 8" I beleive. I only have one in sump skimmer, the rest are all too big for my set ups.

List your skimmer. 11" is most likely way too deep.

Like hop said, 8" is more the average

I run my BM 250 in 6" of water and my Euroreef rs-180 in 8"

Well which skimmer do you have? They each run best at different heights, so it's important to know which one you've got before we can give good advice.

I would say put the top of the pump about 3-4 inches below water. How big is your sump?? Do you need that much water in it??

Are you running it on the inside or the outside of the sump? The link took me to a hang on... If you are running it in the sump, you should be just fine with the sump's water level about 1" below or up to the hanging mount.
