Skimmer going crazy

My Remora Pro is going nuts all of a sudden. The skimmate is perfect, I did not change the every other day minescule feeding (only a pair of clowns in there and using granular until summertime when I order more fish and my softies), and the last water change was two weeks ago. There should be no variables.

The cup fills up every three days usually and has for the last six months, but now fills up daily with gorgeous green tea consistency skimmate.

Should I adjust the rubber band thingy or just let whatever is doing this burn itself out and keep on adding make up water?

I am doing a big water change today (20%, but will hold off until I hear from you esteemed folks).

you didnt add anything new like E.M. or other meds or additives?

you may have reached a trigger threshold for a limiting nutrient (like phosphorus) or there may be a new predominant algal specie in bloom and the skimmer is saving you from the bloom. Regardless, go with the water change, especially if you might have skipped one...


And make sure that your hands are really clean and well-rinsed before immersing them in the tank water as well, you might be surprised, it might have been something simple, like just keeping your hands OUT of the tank for more than usual, you can never really tell with some of the skimmers, it could be anything.

The only new variable might be that the sun came out a few days and there is finally a bit of algae growing again.
