Size of the Sump?

How do you determin what size sump to get?? Is there a formula or just a good educated guess? I'm getting a 110 gallon R/R AGA 48" X 18" X 30" and my stand is going to be 48" X 18" X 30". I was looking at one that is 30" X 16" X 16" or is that over kill? My LFS was trying to talk me in to a refugium but I dont need more hassel just a good easy to clean sump! I was looking into a Berlin style sump like on this site http://www.customaquatic.com/customa...exid=fi-stf-mb.

If any one has other ideas I am open to suggestions or other websites to purchase a sump I would love to see them.

not magic formula for figuring out sump size. the bigger the better.

glad you are not falling for the refugium pressure.

there are a lot places that can make custom sumps for you. you can also do it yourself with another tank and placing under the stand. adding baffles is pretty easy.

the 36" sump sounds like a good size for that tank.

by getting, not necessarily the largest in terms of gallons, the largest tank you can fit is most definately the best. In terms of bubbles you will want the longest sump possible and throw in some baffles. In tank flow is better than return flow as well, but that's JMO

I would really, really, like to have a sump that is 1/2 the size of my tank, since I normally don't have room for that I just get as close as possible.
