sixline wrasse question
Is the sixline a very shy fish? I put him in two days ago and I haven't seen hin since an hour after putting him in. Are they sociable fish, because I think he might be dead! I got him for his appetite of worms and his great color. My tank is a 29G, so I would think that he wouldn't be difficult to find him.

I just got a sixline not too long ago and he hid for about the first three days until he got really hungry I think. After that he's out all the time darting around in and out of the rock. If I walk up to the tank, he'll hide for about 30s then come out to see if I'm feeding or not, either way, he'll start darting around the tank. I say give it a bit more time

Hmm, they are a bit shy but mine didn't hide for 2 days. I had to buy 2, the first died shortly after I got him. My second I've had for almost a year now. I'd say if you can't find him in a 29g tank, it doesn't look good.

True, once it gets used to the tank, your six-line should be out cruising the tank most of the time. They don't stay in one place for long. They aren't exactly sociable fish but in general they tend to not bother other fish - though they're tough little buggers and can hold their own with aggression.

My six line does seem to bother my false percs a lot. He looks like he's getting in some serious biting but I never see any damage on the clown.

yeah, in the store he looked very lively, but when being acclimated, he wasn't looking too good. I'll give him another couple days, and if I don't see him, I'll assume the worst and get another. Hopefully two is a charm.

If yours is still alive and you introduce another, you will have one dead in short matter.

Mine will hide when you first walk over, but will commence with his "cruising" if you stand still. Good luck with your's, I hope you find him!

check around the tank, sometimes wrasses jump, not sure about the six line though, also, they are small fish, and can easily find a tiny hole in live rock to hide in for a while. id give it time if you dont see him dryed up on the carpet.

I guess each one has their own personality. Mine went straight to his business of poking around the rocks. At first he wasn't really eager to see me checking in on him, but he's accepted that fact. Now he just goes about what he's doing and ignores me.
The best part...I hardly notice any flatworms or bristleworms any more. He's done a GREAT job.
