Question

Silly Question - What is "Southdown" and will 5" be a deep enough sand bed?

Hey - what is this "southdown" that everyone seems to be talking about?

Also - I ordered 3 40lb bags of aragonite....I think this will give me about 5" of sand which I will seed with live stuff from the beach and from my 12G nano.

Is this enough? (Is it ever enough? )

ylmaya Southdown is a distributor name for oothlic (sp?) sand. Alot of folks that want to have DSBs use if because it is very fine and is made up of argonite. Usually you can only find it available on the east coast.
If a DSB is the route you want to take then 5 inches would be good.
