sick fish!

I have a brazillian gramma (basically a royal gramma) I've had him for I'd guess over 2 years. The last few weeks he doesn't look so good.

I did add two clown fish... they don't seem to bother him at all but I think their presence might be stressing the gramma a bit. The gramma is the largest fish in the tank. The clowns are pink skunks. Is this most likely a stress issue dealing with the new fish? Could the clowns have brought something into the tank even though they seem healthy as does my wrasse?

The grammas skin seems a bit strange colour. It did start too look like it was peeling a bit but that has gone away. But it still doesn't look right.

He hides more than he used to and now in the back of the tank.

He's breathing harder than normal as well.

This being said he still eats like crazy. Just now he was lying on his side in the back of the tank and I threw in some food. He darted right out and starting eating.

Other oddities include scratching on rock and sand and darting more instead of swimming. There are no visible signs of ich either.

This fish has been resistant the time I've had him.

Should I do anything or hope that if it's a disease he fights it off and if it's due to the clowns being new just hope he adjusts?

What would you all do?

Thanks for any help

This thread got buried but I'm going to give an update.

The fish looks worse but seems to be acting somewhat better.
He isn't hiding now and still came out and ate with the other fish.
However he's sort of whitish... and has cloudy eyes. His fins also seem to be ripped up a bit. The fins are sorta cloudy too if that makes sense??

All other fish still seem fine!

Thanks

healthy atmosphear need at first

my friend for keeping your fish healthy you need Healthy coral reefs. which require intact structure and function, and the key to understanding coral reef health is identifying how one or both may have been altered by human activities. However, not all of these important processes and stressors can be readily measured, adding to the complexity of the challenge of understanding reef integrity.

Welcome and thanks for the words of wisdom, want to translate that into laymans terms for the new reefers to get their heads around.

This sounds suspiciously like something out of a book, While its true in essence, it imparts no information immediatly applicable to this persons question.

Hi everyone
I don't have a QT set up... but I could pretty quickly... I have a tank, powerheads, HOB filter and heaters...

So I could drain some water from the display or make new water and have it set up pretty quick... then it's just catching him.

Do you really think that I'm better off removing him? I only ask this as he is still eating and is alert. I just want to be sure that the qt is better odds than letting him fight it off himself?!

Thanks everyone
I can set up a qt tonight though no prob!

well his getting better got worse and he died.

He really looked like he was improving then last night looked awful so I was going to set the qt up today, but he was gone.

I guess something came in the with clowns (one of which I cannot find now) even though they seemed perfectly healthy at all times... the one I can see still does.

I'm gonna get the qt ready in case the other fish start to get sick!

I should have treated sooner... but he really seemed to be fighting it off.
Lessons learned I guess... but I've had that fish for years!
