siamese twin Zoa polyps

I am just going to pull the squirrel out on my self... I have a colony of Saphyre Zoas growing and I noticed a couple days ago that two of the polyps are really close to each other. Then as they grew I noticed that they only had one skin and two heads and now they are closed up for the night and it looks like one polyp.
I have kept many Zoa colonies in the past but have never seen conjoined twins. Anyone else ever get this?

FWIW, we got the rock 2 1/2 months ago, thought the twin was going to split before now as the colony has grown like crazy. But they're still connected at the 'neck', and the heads are much bigger (2x +?) than when I first noticed.

don't know if you consider under 3 months as 'staying that way', though
