I'm not saying it won't work but if algae is going to grow on it it will take a lot longer. Don't base your conclusion on this short term. I would wait at least 6 months before drawing any kind of conclusion. I wish you had a 400 watt MH to drop on top of it for a few weeks.

You might also want to concider seeding the tank with some HA to see if there is enough PO4 available for it to proliferate. Maybe throw a fish in there to for some nitrates.

Might as well just call it a nano.

Put a devil fish in it. Yellow tail damsel. Good place for one of those. Pretty fish just the devils spawn.

Another little tidbit...

Do several 50percent water changes on it with water from your main tank for a week (half gallon a day) then get the fish and take enough sand from your MT to put about an inch on the bottom of it at the same time you add the fish. You won't have a cycle to speak of. Put a k-nano (or what ever you want) for circulation and call it a day.

and maybe lower your waterlevel a bit, a 240x turn off will certainly make some waves lol

haha you beat me to it, a 240 times water turn over would certainly pin any fish to the wall ahaha id make a wall and small drill holes so that the flow hits the wall then just flows out the little holes, like a return pump
