should i get a sailfin tang ?
i went to the LFS, to replace the percula clown that i lost, but they did not have any "true" perculas.
they did have a few REALLY nice looking small sailfin tangs, the smallest one being the best looking one, it was around 2" or so.
i was able to resist the urge to habe it bagged. but now i'm thinking about going back and getting one.
my tank is a 90 gallon, 48Lx24Hx18W
i had planned to add "a" tang to my tank at one point, just not sure which one yet. now that i've seen this little guy, i think that i like them

The only sailfin I ever had was a coral munching jerk.
I say go for a scribbledrabbitfish. Beautiful and functional. No problem in your size tank. just a suggestion

a 90 is big enough for one sailfin IMO
however, I would not say more than big enough. Its just barely big enough.

To go against the grain I have a sailfin in my 95. He will need to be rehomed in a year or 2 but it is one of my favorite fish

cool.
if you don't mind my asking more questions...
how big or small was he/she when you got it ?
how long ago was that ?
and how big is it now ?
and does it leave the corals alone ?

well, they had two tiny yellow tangs and a clown sittin next to their register in a 2.5g nano. i think they like to house them rather small.

I love the sailfin tangs, but I think they get too big for most folks. If you've ever seen them in the wild, they can be huge, say 14" + long, not to mention as tall. They do pretty well for a while at smaller sizes, but I think some of the other Zebrasoma fish do better in terms of size, say the yellow, scopas, or maybe purple tang.

I have a sailfin in my 75 gallon and he has been awesome. He loves to "ride the surf" so he is really fun to watch!

He was about an 1 1/2 when I got it 2 years ago and has doubled in size since then.
He has never bothered any corals
