setting up a new tank

I have a new 140 gal. tank. I used 160 lbs of crushed coral on the bottom. I wan't to set up a reef tank, should I take out the crushed coral and replace it with live sand ?

YES!!! Welcome to TRT by the way . you don't need live sand. just add regular dry stuff and your live rock will make it live sand over time. please give us a run down on what you have.

I would ditch the crushed coral and just get some Caribsea aragonite seafloor special. I guess it's kind of middle of the road. Not tiny stuff that can blow around but not huge and granular. A good price is a $1/lb on it. Don't waste your money on live sand. You can buy it dry.

Yes take out the crushed coral and like already mentioned a couple fo times....start with new dry sand, not live. It will become live soon enough, and you know you will truly be starting with a fresh clean sandbed
