seahorses

is it hard to set up a seahorses only tank?

what is required before they can go in?

i was thinking of puting 2 in my 29gal tank which has no fish in it. (been set-up for over a year)

i know there is a seahorse expert on this site i just hope she sees this post!

*PERK* did somebody say SEAHORSE?

I'm most definitely NOT an expert -- but I am an enthusiast!

What else is in the 29 -- besides not having any fish?

I'd recommend tank raised horses, your LFS can get nice ones from SASeahorse in Australia through one of the major wholesalers (PM me for more info!).

Good tank mates include soft corals/mushrooms, sponges, gorgonia.

NO aggressive stinging corals, anemones or aggressive fish.

Johnny was right, seahorse.org has a plethora of information.

thats all i have, just soft corals and a few mushrooms.
everything is ballanced and everything is looking good.
my 29 is a tall tank. and i was wondering if i can add 2 seahorses to it. though i know that even the minitures can grow up to 6-7" so i was wondering what you guys would prefer?
how much do they usually run in $?

thanks for the comments!

Sounds like you're all set!

Tank raised horses are better, usually they are already trained to frozen food, but I've trained wild caughts to frozen too. However, expect to have them eat you out of house and home with ghost shrimp. Get the sw ones if you can, they won't die and foul the water if not eaten immediately. Offer PE mysis first -- even pre-trained horses should get live ghosts/grass shrimp periodically, gives them something to hunt -- good for morale, as it were!
