Hey Bill-e, I remember you saying something about these pics in the chat room and just noticed the posting. Those are very cute little ponies! Johnny

Very Cool, Bill!

They look much different from my reidi fry...reidi are smaller and don't hitch for the first several weeks of life, and I've had no luck in 5 broods so far.

I had about 25 viable babies this time but my stinking brine wouldn't hatch!!!

Trying to culture copepods harvested from my tank....they are more suitable food anyway.

Will you be trying to rear subsequent broods?

Jenn

Has anyone had success raising fry to adulthood here yet?

Yes I'm on a couple of lists (as is Bill-e) that have members who are propagating seahorses, in some cases, several species. Bill seems to have H. erectus, and from what I'm reading they are somewhat easier to raise, but that's a relative term..none of them are EASY, except perhaps dwarfs.

My H. reidi (which I ordered as H. erectus, but received reidi...) have fry that are among the smallest, and they don't hitch for the first several weeks of life. I'm currently having problems with premature babies, and non-viable young, and the viable ones I can't seem to feed adequately. This time my brine didn't hatch out in time ARGH I'm trying to culture come copepods but they aren't multiplying fast enough!

I'll try again in about a week when he has the next batch but it's frustrating at best.

Jenn,

I dont expect any more unexpected broods since I have only males But yea, I may try to rear some. I did add a little Golden Pearls and I swear they ate some.

I'm hopeful to be able to get a female from my LFS once he get's the courage to place an order.
