sea salt question..

Let me first say,I am new to the hobby and have been reading threads here for weeks..You guys are So helpful, thank you for having a forum where people can learn a great deal before diving in

I'm sure I will have many questions to come but I'm going slow making things are right before going on to the next step..What brand of sea salt do you think is best for a reef tank with 50lbs of live rock to seed the 30 lbs of dry base rock ? I want to just keep the 80lbs of rock in the tank for 2 months before adding live stock.

Thanks for any help, Todd

Everyone uses different salt . If you want an answer to start . I'd use IO (Instant Ocean) . You can change later when you get your hands around things . It's a great salt, affordable and has everything you will need .
Ask away on the questions . Were all here to help

Fat Tony really likes Coralife, and I have been researching it. It has to be the best bang for the buck out there and with us switching to SPS soon that will be our new pick.

I think IO switched parent companies or something as well.

With our limited stuff in the tank I think good water quality and husbandry still far outweigh salt brands as factors in successful reefkeeping.

I have used IO and Coralife and have had no problems with either one. It seems like that almost anywhere that carries salt seems to have IO. That is an added bonus if you need salt in a hurry.
