Buy captive bred if possible. They're more expensive but you don't (depending on source) have to worry about parasites. A lot of them are also already used to frozen / prepared foods , although live are definitely appreciated.

I'm not sure about reidi but the general rule is: the deeper the tank, the better.

keep in mind that if this is your main reeftank you are thinking of keeping the horses in, the tank needs built with the horses in mind, and everything you want to do to it in the future will be affected by the horses you keep.

Seahorses are great, but most people who have them have more than one tank so they can have their main reef, and their seahorses too

They are not real hard if if you have been keeping marine and reef tanks for awhile and been successful, I don't recommend them for someone just starting out in the hobby,

The tank is best tall, a 29 or 37 gallon is nice size for them

I wouldn't say they are any harder than a reef set up, but as others have said they require a specific set up.

low flow
no places to get sucked into
non agressive corals or tank mates
tempature is lower than a regular reef to combat illness
feed more frequently
tank gets dirtier so larger water changes bigger skimmer

I started with 4 reidi in a 29 gallon tank.- this was the suggested minimum
( which chage color by the way so DON"T buy based on color.. mine have been shocking yellow, brown, grey, and dark yellow soild and speckled all in the last 9 months.)

read alot and plan and ask questions on that plan and you will be good!

Seahorses are a specialized critter .. and like Mandarins can be pretty finiky on what they eat. Best to use the seahorse website and do plenty of research before you buy.

They eat very slow,so being with other things is very hard for them to servive with others.
